OTR tyre retreading machinery: what a giant-tyre line needs

OTR tyre retreading machinery: what a giant-tyre line needs

Earthmover (OTR) tyres on mining trucks, loaders and graders are among the most rewarding tyres to retread. A large OTR retread typically costs 30–50% of a new tyre, and a sound casing can be retreaded several times. But a line built for truck and bus (TBR) tyres cannot simply take them on: OTR tyres are far bigger, thicker and heavier, and every machine that touches the casing has to be sized for that.

Buffing. Our OTR buffing machine comes in two versions: YTD-G1 (inflatable type) and YTD-G2 (gantry type), each about 2.5 t. A rigid frame and an adjustable buffing head keep the bonding radius consistent across a wide, heavy crown, and every step after buffing depends on that radius.

Skiving. Big tyres pick up deep cuts that buffing alone will not clear. The YTD-G2S skiving machine cuts and reshapes the tread to remove deep damage before building, and works alongside our OTR buffing machines and OTR chambers.

Rims and envelopes. OTR curing rims and envelopes are too large and heavy to handle by hand on every load. The YTGC-G1 rim mounting machine mounts and demounts OTR curing rims, and the YTBC-G1 envelope spreader (about 0.6 t) opens oversized curing envelopes and fits them. Both are pneumatic; compressed air is supplied by the customer.

Curing. Our YTL series chambers hold 4 to 24 tyres per load. For OTR, the inner diameter is sized to your largest tyre, so each load holds fewer tyres, but every one of them is high value. Heating is electric or steam, the shell is Q345R pressure-vessel steel, and the supply is 380 V or customised to your country. Cushion gum in cold retreading cures at around 115°C, held to about ±1°C, so stable temperature and pressure are what you are really buying. Each chamber ships with its pressure-vessel product certificate and its special-equipment manufacturing supervision inspection certificate.

Three questions before you ask for a quote:

1. What is your largest tyre (outer diameter and section width), and how many tyres a day do you plan to retread? This sets the chamber size and how many machines you need.

2. What power supply does your site have (voltage and frequency), and do you have compressed air? The rim and envelope machines run on it.

3. Will you retread OTR tyres only, or OTR and truck/bus tyres together? A mixed plant changes the chamber mix and the workshop layout.

Send your largest tyre size and daily target to mingtong@yton.cc. We have built retreading machinery since 2000; we will spec the line and suggest a layout for your workshop.
