What equipment does a tire retreading line need? A cold-retread checklist

What equipment does a tire retreading line need? A cold-retread checklist

New retreaders often ask: what machines do I actually need to build a complete retreading line? Whether you retread TBR truck tyres or OTR earthmover tyres, a cold (pre-cure) retreading line follows the same sequence of steps — and each one matters.

Step 1 — Inspection. Casing inspection and hydraulic pressure-test machines screen out damaged casings that cannot be safely retreaded.

Step 2 — Buffing. A tyre buffing (grinding) machine strips the worn tread and buffs a precise bonding radius. This step decides how well the new tread bonds; manual, standard and CNC types match your output and precision.

Step 3 — Repair & cementing. Spot vulcanizers repair nail holes and casing injuries, and an extruder applies cushion gum evenly to the buffed surface.

Step 4 — Building. Gantry presses bond the precured tread rubber to the casing and locate it, then an envelope seals the assembly.

Step 5 — Curing. The enveloped tyres go into a curing chamber (autoclave) where heat and pressure bond the new tread to the casing. Chambers hold 4 to 24 tyres per load to match your daily output.

Finally — Final inspection & conveying. Chamber rails and workshop monorails link every step into an efficient line.
