How much does a tyre retreading plant cost? 2026 equipment price guide
The first question most retreaders ask is not "which machines do I need" but "what will the whole thing cost". This article breaks a retreading plant budget into its parts: what the equipment costs, what buyers usually forget to budget for, and how daily output decides the configuration.
Complete lines. Six line quotations we issued in 2025 average out like this: a cold (precure) line with a 2 m chamber holding 6 tyres per load is about RMB 189,000 excluding VAT; the same 6-tyre line with the tread-ring process added is about RMB 247,000; a 12-tyre line with a 3.5 m chamber is about RMB 262,000 including VAT; a 20-tyre cold retread plus tread-ring line is about RMB 439,000 including VAT; and a 16–25 inch OTR tread-ring line with a 2.2 × 5.5 m chamber is about RMB 366,000 including VAT. For export customers we quote FOB Ningbo, and a complete line usually falls between US$26,000 and US$61,000 including export wooden case packing.
Single machines. A curing chamber runs RMB 70,000–135,000 and the price follows the chamber size: about 70,000 for 2 m, 70,000–83,000 for 3.5 m, about 110,000 for a 20-tyre chamber and about 135,000 for a 2.2 × 5.5 m OTR chamber. A gantry buffing machine is RMB 44,000–50,000, a gantry pressing (tread building) machine RMB 25,000–29,000, an air pressure testing machine about RMB 45,000, and a chamber trolley rail RMB 9,000–25,000 depending on the number of hook sets. The tread-ring machines are cheaper: ring mounter RMB 10,000–12,000, casing buffer and tread buffer RMB 15,000–19,000 each, crown cutter RMB 8,500–13,000, crown press RMB 6,800–9,000. Among the shared auxiliaries, an envelope spreader is RMB 7,000–10,000, a rim mounting machine RMB 3,500–5,000, a gum extruder RMB 4,500, a cement mixer RMB 3,000–4,000 and an air compressor about RMB 15,000.
Three things decide the total. Which tyres you retread (truck and bus, or earthmover), how many tyres per day, and whether you add the tread-ring process. Chamber size follows daily output, and a bigger chamber costs more; the tread-ring process adds four to five machines. Sort out those three answers before asking for a budget, otherwise the number means very little.
What buyers forget to budget for. An equipment quotation normally covers the machine list only. Plan separately for consumables — precured tread rubber, cushion gum and repair materials, usually bought from a tread manufacturer; wearing parts matched to the chamber capacity, such as envelopes, curing rims and flaps; foundations and the electrical supply upgrade for your building; compressed-air piping; and, for export, sea freight, insurance and customs clearance at your port. Our quotations state exactly what is included and what is not, so there are no arguments when the machines arrive.
Prices move. Equipment prices follow steel and rubber prices and change with configuration, which is why everything above is a range. A formal quotation is calculated for your tyre sizes, daily output, supply voltage and delivery terms.
Work out your own size first. Our online calculator takes your target tyres per day and returns the chamber positions, the number of buffing and building machines and a budget range: new.yton.cc/en/calculator/. Send us the result and we will turn it into a formal quotation.
